Madison - Madtown Throwdown Regatta,  Recaps

Recap – Madison Regatta 2019

Madison’s Labor Day weekend event on Lake Mendota was met with lower turnout than normal do to several CRAW members being broken (Clay, Tassie, Dustin and Gary) or old and broken and traveling out of the area (Guy). Needless to say, they were missed and we offer our support to their various stages of recovery. The Hansens were entering their formative years at UW and Lily was left home because Dale is being fiscally sound (what a concept). Minnesota was no where to be found. It all added up to skippers scrambling for crews. Kurt came through by bringing 6 young talented sailors from Madison’s sailing team to the rescue and he and Tyler offered boats to give these young men their first thrill racing cats. It resulted in a wonderful infusion of young talent eager to learn the nuances of cats. And even better, they brought a keg to Daniel’s dinner party Saturday evening. Thank you Dawn for once again opening your beautiful home to us hooligans. We were able to get solid racing in the first day with light to medium winds that proved challenging to most of us. I very much enjoyed having Jack crew for me. We hope to see him next year. Sunday was going to be a total floater so Daniel wisely called it and we returned home to our families early. To the organizers, committees, officers and all the rest who make this family work, I say thank you very much for your service and a job well done. Now, off to the F18s with Matt and next month to the F16 with Gary to extend the season. See you all at the winter party January 4th, 2020.  May God bless all of your families, Chris
