Recap – Madison Regatta 2020
The MadTown Throwdown this year was a last-minute decision for me, kind of a bonus regatta for the season. Daniel Hearn set up the regatta with the Mendota YC which brought 5 E Scows into the fray. Saturday, we sailed 5 races in ever shifting winds. Having my favorite crew back on the boat allowed us to have 3 good finishes: 4, 3, & 2. Unfortunately, F16’s were close by & all finishes our numbers corrected to 4’s. As in the past years Lily was on top of her game even if I was not. Several CRAW sailors found it necessary to wash their boats including a rare occurrence by Kurt. A camera also caught a E on its side that I missed.
That evening we all descended on Brian’s house for dinner. To my knowledge, COVID was avoided by all. Shocking!!!!
Overnight the winds picked up to 40 & the storms followed until 11 am & beyond. Consequently, no racing on Sunday. I never knew I would need sea legs in an RV to use the head. No boats were harmed or relocated as was the case in past years, but there was a tree down, which brought out the governor’s security & local FD. Thanks to Daniel for another enjoyable event & congrats to our winners!

My boats are now tucked in for the winter, no more sailing for me this year. The 2020 season will go on w/o me & CRAW is invading Green Lake this weekend! Come join the fun.
