Recap – Rock and Roll 2023

First race back on the water, and it was great fun!  We had 14 boats registered (Nice!) and five races on Saturday (also Nice!) in 8 – 12 knots of shifty winds.  Tremendous job done by RC, Commodore Phillip, Deb Whitehorse and Peter Wood, to get five races off without the chase boat and missing an A mark.  Sadly, Clay and Guy, who won the first race had to retire from racing, with Clay not feeling 100%.  Speed recovery Clay!  Not enough wind for racing Sunday.

Other highlights

  • Racing was very close with two races having ties for finishes.
  • Look out for Eli and Williem, going very fast even with a quick swim.
  • CRAW sailors bought the first and second place boats from the F18 Worlds. Great tuning tips from these boats and an inspiration to the fleet.
  • We welcomed several new crews – Lily with Dale, Jack Rickman with Randy, and Nick with Brett.
  • Catered dinner Saturday night was fantastic, makes the first race easy for the sailors.
  • JJ provided a nostalgic trip down memory lane with amazing CRAW videos from 20 years ago.  Who were those young guys and gals???
  • Daniel is organizing a Red Gear Racing clinic in Madison, June 16, 17 & 18.  Let him know if interested.

Congratulations to our top place finishers:

1st – Kurt Korte & JJ Johnson

2nd – Daniel & Frankie Hearn

3rd – Eli & Williem Reese

Hope to see everyone at the next event, Mrs. Hippie in Lake City.
