Oshkosh Recap 2014
It was a dark and stormy night. Actually it was a beautiful weekend. I arrived in Oshkosh Thursday night and enjoyed the hospitality of Kandra and family. I really appreciated that and even the neighbor helped us out; thanks to him also. Set up to sail Friday with excellent winds 15 to 20. Introduced my new crew to that crazy guy and his wife that teach sailing. You know THEY ARE REALLY DOING IT!!!!!!!! (man I could never keep up with them). Gave a few rides to some students Friday with some good breeze. The first two I did not get names. A very wet reach out and back was enough for them. The second gentleman was Sam and we had a good hour or so ride in some nice breeze. Was great giving the rides and watching the reaction.
Saturday Dale had an excellent first start, ON TIME ( I’m with you Dale ) but then the wind fluttered and waned and shifted. And such is sailing. However the barbeque was great, so was the food. Hey! I found out Mark is going to help all of us discuss things more matter of factually.>>>>> PERSUASIVE THINKING coming out soon. Now I>>>>> was thinking…. Moments with Marty,… and my crew Bill…… though Bullshit with Bill were our ideal. but I warned Mark guys like Hearn would be watching, then Dan tried to get in my head. You know how them marketing guys are. Was a nice discussion, everyone was enjoying the cook out. Then the weather again – rain rain and wind. Then I realized we were trying to pretend the 10, 20, etc wind was not blowing the rain under the pavilion tent,… but then why are we standing on the picnic tables holding the tent from blowing away. We counted to 3, or 4, collapsed the pavilion tent, ran for our car, the others to there RVs. Was an enjoyable evening.
Then came Sunday, I thought just right, just the right breeze ( low to mid teens with some gusts higher), just the right temp not too hot not too cold, off shore wind so not much waves, and that Dale with that ON TIME start, AGAIN!!! ( I’m with you Dale ). Four nice races, was great. And of course all of the help, Jim and Jack Young ( hope you don’t mind that I put Jim first Jack ) Kandra, Audra, Dale, Deb, Penny and I don’t know who all was on that boat. Thanks for sailing Sam from Oshkosh – see you in Green Bay. I am going say what we all say to each other, that as it has been said many times, that Steve and Sarah, you, well I mean really now, I believe we all appreciate what we see you doing for our sport, REALLY… REALLY!! THANKS from all of us. Thanks
See you all at GREEN BAY
Don’t forget the special prize.
Hey Guy, you beat me on the water but I got my recap out sooner. Dale is my inspiration ( I’m with you Dale).
