Rock & Roll Recap 2011

And thats it.

The last CRAW hosted regatta of the year took place at Rock Lake in Lake Mills. And what a nice finish to the season. Mother nature was trying to hold us back with the lack of wind, but we where able to get 4 races in. The temperature couldn’t have been better for this late in the season. The first day racing was delayed and eventually 1 slow race was run. Even after shortening it to one lap to took over an hour.

The after party was cowboy themed, with prizes for the best cowboy outfit. Another great meal from Hering’s Sand Bar and Grill. And a fun raffle where almost everyone won something.

The second day was better. Another delay occurred but this time it was on the water. And all the catamarans where able to line up hull to hull for a really nice picture. After the picture the wind picked up and it was race time. 3 surprisingly fun races then occurred. These where the kind of races where the path you chose could easily determine the finishing place you got. With holes and wind gusts moving all over the course.

Congratulations to Kurt Korte and Brad Winquist for the win, Guy Selsmeyer and JJ Johnson for second and Wes Wilcox and Graham Walker for third with Graham as the skipper.

A big thanks to the race committee for all their hard work and putting up with the lack of wind and restless sailors.
